The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 1 a.m. Saturday for Kershaw County, along with Fairfield and Newberry counties. The hazard types include freezing rain and sleet, but only expect ice accumulations of less than .05 inch. Rain will freeze on contact in locations below freezing and lead to hazardous travel conditions. Bridges and overpasses will be especially vulnerable to ice accumulation. Temperatures are expected to be in the lower 30s overnight.

A winter weather advisory means that periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited difficulties, and use caution while driving.
