Moral and spiritual death

Once again we are faced with a horrible massacre at a school. This time it was a Connecticut elementary school. As frustrating to every American as they are devastating to those immediately involved, my prayers are with those suffering beyond my imagination.

President Obama recently endorsed a controversial ban on assault weapons and high capacity ammunition magazines and strict background checks for buyers.

(Our U.S. Congress is reluctant to tighten gun restriction laws.)

If our churches and schools are not safe, our homes are not safe. Anything else cheapens grace and cheats the believer.

In June 1974, Alberta Williams King, mother of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., was shot and killed. The murder happened as Mrs. King sat at the organ playing the Lord’s Prayer with 500 worshipers bowing their heads in Atlanta, Ga.

We are dying a slow moral and spiritual death, and we and our children are paying the price.
