KC wrestler vying for spots in state tourney

Both Camden and Lugoff-Elgin will host state individual tournament qualifying on Friday night and Saturday.
Camden High School will hold the AAA Upper State tournament while Luggoff-Elgin High School welcomes the 4A Lower State event.
North Central will not have the luxury of staying home for this weekend’s wrestling action. The Knights will head to Liberty to compete in the AA Upper State tournament which will be becontested at Liberty High School.
The top four qualifiers in each of the 14 weight divisions will earn a spot in next weekend’s South Carolina High School League State Championships to be held at the Anderson Civic Center beginning on Friday night and continuing through Saturday.
Here is the information for each of the three tournament sites where Kershaw County wrestlers will be in action this weekend:

Camden: The action begins Friday at 5 p.m. inside the Camden High gym with first round matches being contested on four mats. The quarterfinals are tentatively set to begin at 7 p.m.
Wrestling resumes on Saturday with first round consolation matches beginning at 8:30 a.m. At 9:30 a.m., the second round consolation matches will be contested. The semifinals will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The consolation semifinals are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. with the finals and consolation finals being wrestled simultaneously at 2 p.m.
Admission is $6 per day.

Lugoff-Elgin: The action begins Friday at 5 p.m. inside the Demons Den with first round matches. Tournament officials hope to get in two championship rounds and one round of consolation and, time permitting, two consolation rounds on Friday evening.
Wrestling resumes on Saturday at 9 a.m.
Admission is $6 per day and commemorative T-shirts will be sold both days.

Liberty: The action begins Friday at 5:30 p.m. with first round matches being contested.
Wrestling resumes on Saturday with quarterfinal matches beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Admission is $6 per day.
