Retired school administrator Theodore Jackson was appointed by the Kershaw County Board of School Trustees Tuesday to serve as the interim principal for Midway Elementary School effective Jan. 3.

Current Principal Jewell Stanley is taking a position in the Title I office at the S.C.Department of Education.

“Mr. Jackson brings experience as a principal and a familiarity with the community that will be extremely beneficial,” said Kershaw County School District Superintendent Frank Morgan.  “I know he will do a great job of continuing to move the school forward.”

Jackson was principal at Bethune Elementary from 2000 to 2003 and again from 2007 to June of this year. He served as the principal for Jackson School from 2003 to 2007.

Morgan said Jackson will work with Stanley during the next few weeks to begin the transition. He also said a search for the permanent principal at the school will begin in a few months and include input from all Midway Elementary stakeholders.
