Due to Tuesday’s inclement weather, the North Central High School varsity softball team’s inaugural “Beat Cancer with a Bat” Lady Knight Invitational will begin this evening in Boonetown.
This tournament will feature six teams from around the Midlands including, Lower Richland, Richland Northeast, Whitmire, Laurence Manning Academy, Crestwood and North Central.  This will be a “Pink Tournament” with donations being turned over to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research.
The Lady Knights are selling tournament T-shirts with a portion of the proceeds to go towards the donation.
The tournament begins Wednesday at 6 p.m. when North Central takes on Whitmire. The event continues on Thursday night with games starting at 5:30 p.m., before concluding on Saturday with play beginning at 8 a.m. and games being played throughout the day.
Each team will be playing to win a championship trophy, but all teams will be really playing to try and help eradicate breast cancer. The Lady Knights will be sporting some pink in support of the cause as will other teams. There will be T-shirts and other items for sale to help with the cause.
