A funeral service celebrating the life of Jo Ann Reeves Mathis, 81, of Camden, was held at First Baptist Church in Camden at 3:00 PM, Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Rev. Bruce Hancock officiated. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family received friends on Monday, March 4, 2013 from 6:00-7:30 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in Mrs. Mathis’ memory to the Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, P.O. Box 1178, Greenwood, SC 29648 or First Baptist Church, 1201 Broad Street, Camden, SC 29020.

Jo Ann Reeves Mathis, widow of the late Harold Edward Mathis, Sr., was born in Kershaw, SC, the daughter of the late George Reeves and Nina Hinson Reeves. Jo Ann was a retired RN with The State of South Carolina and retired as a private duty nurse. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Camden and was a former volunteer reader at the Kershaw Co. Library.

Jo Ann is survived by her daughter, Mandy Mathis Sanders of Camden; and her son, H. E. "Hal" Mathis, Jr., of Cassatt; grandchildren, Nathan Martin (Jennifer) of Lugoff and Natalie Davis (James) of Cassatt; sister, Penny Reeves of Fleming Island, FL, and special nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Jo Ann was predeceased by her sisters, Estaline Sherman, Myra Moseley, Totsie Paterchak, Helen Yandle and Joyce Reeves; son-in-law, Randy B. Sanders.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
