A funeral service to celebrate the life of Willie Edmond "Almond" Locklear, 65, of Camden, will be held at the National Steeplechase Museum, located at Springdale Race Track on Sunday, March 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM . Harold Cassady and Ann Shirley will be speaking. Burial will follow in Mt. Elem Baptist Church Cemetery in Clio, SC. The family will receive friends at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, on Saturday, March 9, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 PM Memorials may be made in Willie’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Disease & Related Disorders Association-Mid State-SC, 3223 Sunset Blvd. Suite 100, W. Columbia, SC 29169, or Agape Hospice, 141 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210.

Willie Edmond "Almond" Locklear, was born in Clio, SC, the son of the late Willie L. and Evelyn Jacobs Locklear. He attended Mt. Elem Baptist Church. Willie was a World Championship Blacksmith, was a member of the American Farriers Association, the SC Farriers Association, and The NC Horseshoer Association, and the Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

Willie is survived by his companion, Jane Sexton of Camden; sisters Edith Boswell "Skeeter" of Ruby, SC and Gertrude Treadaway (Barry) of Clio, SC; brother, Bobby Lee Locklear (Sandra) of Clio, SC, Janes’s children, Gina Gray and Ross Sexton both of Virginia; nieces, Crystal Springs; Misty Watson, Taylor Locklear; nephews, Kevin Treadaway, Gavin Locklear, Alex Locklear, Phillip Locklear, and Michael Hatcher; and many devoted friends whom he loved dearly.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
