Dreher pumped in four first half goals and that was more than enough as the visiting Blue Devils blanked Camden, 4-0,  in a Region 4-AAA boys’ soccer match played Friday night at Zemp Stadium.
The Bulldogs (2-3, 1-2 in 4-AAA) managed just three shots on net while Dreher peppered shots at CHS  netminder Richard White, who had an 11-save night.
“Richard White had a solid night despite giving up four goals,” said Camden head coach Mark Chickering. “But, to his defense, three of the four deflected off the post. Jack Crayne played real well at stopper for us too.
“This was our first real test of our new diamond defensive formation and I was encouraged by our play, especially in the second half.
The first Blue Devil goal came 22 minutes into the contest when a shot deflected off a Camden defender and into the net. Ten minutes later, the guests scored on a blast from some 35 yards out on which the  attacker dribbled though two defenders and sent a shot off the right post and into the net.
Dreher scored again with seven minutes left in the opening half on a direct free kick which ricocheted off the right post, again. The final goal came with four minutes left before the break as the Blue Devils stuck from six yards in front of the net after the Bulldog defense failed to clear the ball from its end of the field.
Despite falling into an early hole, Chickering said he liked what he saw from his team after halftime.
“Overall,” said the first-year head coach, “I was pleased with the second half. I thought we came out and fought hard.
“Once again, we sort of hung our heads after giving up the first goal. We can’t keep having those kinds of lapses and expect to win games. Despite losing, I did see some things we can build on, and we’ll work on those in practice this week.”
CHS is at Chapin Thursday in a 7 p.m. start.
