Scout Sunday was recently celebrated at Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church of Camden. Boy Scouts of Troop 303 and Cub Scout Pack 303 served by welcoming members, distributing bulletins, reading prayers, ushering and assisting with the collection.

During the service, Life Scout, Zack Watson and Cub Scouts, Hampton West and Johnathan Gullard, spoke of their scouting experiences. Assistant District Commissioner, Mike Cook, awarded District Commissioner, Jim Bradshaw, with the God and Service Award for teaching religious principles to scouts with the help of Pastor David Weaver and South Carolina House Representative Laurie Slade Funderburk. This award acknowledges distinguished volunteer service by adult leaders in ministry through the Boy Scouts of America and the United Methodist Church. Bradshaw, an Eagle Scout, has more than 45 active years in the Boy Scouts of America. Bradshaw was also honored with the God and Me Award for completing tasks and learning religious principles through scouting. This award encourages a closer relationship with God and discipleship. Wes Parks, a member of Troop 303, was presented with the God and Service Award by Bradshaw.

Other scouts representing Troop and Pack 303 were Ben Blakenship, Ben Cummings, Wilson Pope, Ian Railey, Benjamin Watson, Zack Watson, Chase Chewning and Austin Sanders. Adult scouters, Dina Blankenship, Roy Cummings, Art Graham, Rusty Major, Richard Guffy, Andrew Pop, Charlie Raley, Walter Smith, Norman Gullard, Stacy Gullard and Joanne Sanders were also in attendance.

Boy Scouts of America was founded in 1910, with one of the points of the Scout Law being "a Scout is reverent." Each year, Scouts commemorate their founding with Blue and Gold Banquets, Scout Sunday, and other activities.

All boys are welcome to join Boy Scouts of America, Indian Waters Council, Wateree District Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops and Venture Crews. Visit for more information.
