Three nights after having pitched a perfect game against Richland Northeast, Lugoff-Elgin’s Erin Blizzard threw blanks at Irmo.
Blizzard, a sophomore, led the L-E softball team to its second straight win as she fired a two-hitter at the host Yellow Jackets as the Lady Demons took a 12-0 win in a game stopped after six frames by the 10-run rule last Friday.
L-E improved to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in Region 4-4A play. Irmo slipped to 2-2 in conference action.
Blizzard went all six innings allowing two hits while fanning 11 batters.
Haley Rabon led the 11-hit Lady Demon offensive attack with three hits. She also drove in two runs, scored one and stole a base. Dallas Guerrero and Ashley Martin also had two-hit nights with Martin scoring two runs and driving in one while Martin had a double, an RBI and a run scored.
On Monday night, the Lady Demons (4-7) extended their win streak to three games with a 5-4 non-region victory over visiting Sumter.
Blizzard, again, went the distance as she scattered seven hits while fanning five batter while allowing just one earned run against the Lady Gamecocks.
Kelsey Griham paced the five-hit L-E offense as she went 2-for-3 on the night while driving in two runs and scoring one. Taylor Rawl had a double and walks while scoring twice with a stolen base for James Marlow’s squad.
Following Tuesday night’s Region 4-4A game against visiting Ridge View, the Lady Demons will remain at home for another conference game tonight when Spring Valley comes to town for a 7 p.m. contest.
