And then, there was one.
North Central took control of the Region 3-AA tennis standings with a 6-1 win over visiting Columbia in a Tuesday night match played in Boonetown.
The host Knights and the Capitals were the only unbeaten teams in conference action. First-year head coach Jon Parker’s troops improved to 3-0 in league action and 3-1 on the season with the lopsided victory.
Christian Pratt led the way as the NC first singles player was solid in his 6-4, 6-4 win.  Justin Reynolds then won 6-2 and 7-6 in a tie-breaker at second singles before Coleman Roberts dropped his first set, 6-2, only to storm back in the second set, winning 6-2. Roberts narrowly lost in a third set tie-breaker, 10-7.
Josh Outen kept things going, in spite of a slow start in which he trailed, 5-1, in the first set only to roar back for a 7-5 win. He then finished up the match with a 6-2 victory.
Julia Daniels swept her fifth singles match, 6-0, 6-3. Daniels has competed against boys in each match this year but she had yet to drop a set and had not even given up a game until the three she allowed in Tuesday’s second set.
The Knights won both of the doubles matches by forfeit.
