In celebration of the Centennial Anniversary of Camden’s first hospital, the 2013 Hospital Auxiliary Board of KershawHealth will host a tea on Thursday, April 25, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the home of auxiliary board member, Ms. Marguerite Glasgow at 301 Kings Chase in Camden.

Auxilians, former and present, are invited to join in the commemoration of over 100 years of service and dedication to the hospital and community.

The First Tea was hosted by Mrs. Corbett and Mrs. Snell at Cool Springs in early February of 1912 to organize a hospital auxiliary.

The Hospital Auxiliary of KershawHealth has been a long-time supporter of the community healthcare system and its mission.

The Auxiliary not only operates the Auxiliary Gift Shop at KershawHealth in the Medical Center main lobby, they also conduct various fundraising activities supporting KershawHealth. Some of these fundraisers include a golf match in the fall and big sale events in the lobby of the hospital each month.

The Auxiliary also awards more than 24 scholarships to Kershaw County students who are enrolled in healthcare-related studies.

All those involved in the Auxiliary are volunteers with over 80 members. The president of the Auxiliary is former mayor of Camden Mary Clark.

Anyone interested in being a member of this organization should contact Petty Gettys, Auxiliary membership chairman, at 438-1644.
