According to a study completed in 2012 by Harrah Analytics, INVISTA’s Camden site supports more than 3,000 jobs and more than $145 million in compensation and benefits. The independent economic research firm found each INVISTA job generated, on average, about six other jobs in the state. Nationally, INVISTA’s nearly 4,500 full and part-time employees in the United States indirectly resulted in an estimated 22,000 additional jobs and more than $1.3 billion in compensation and benefits.

"This study validates our local and state economic impact, as well as the value of employment with our company," said Paul Liddle, INVISTA’s Camden site manager. "By providing employment opportunities at the site, we are able to help grow local businesses as well."

The local INVISTA manufacturing site buys industrial equipment, raw materials and services from maintenance and construction contractors, as well as other goods and services from local businesses. The study takes into account the economic impact of INVISTA employees spending paychecks for food, shelter, clothing, transportation, entertainment and more.

Nationally, South Carolina ranked eighth in direct and total jobs, and tenth in compensation and benefits.

To determine the impact of jobs and compensation and benefits of Koch companies, Harrah Analytics based the study on direct U.S.-based employment and earnings numbers and data supplied by Koch companies. The employment and earnings at each facility were assigned a Bureau of Economic Analysis industry code. These were multiplied by the industry direct effects multipliers, obtained from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Bureau of Economic Analysis, RIMS II (Regional Industrial Multiplier System) the standard measurement system in federal impact analyses.
