TRACE CROWE FIRED a one-over par 141 to win the inaugural junior tournament played in memory of Camden’s Jimmy Creed.

Trace Crowe of Easley shot a final round one over par 71 to capture this past weekend’s inaugural Jimmy Creed Junior Invitational with a two-day total of 141 on the par 70 Donald Ross-designed Camden Country Club golf course.
The two-day Creed Junior Invitational is conducted by the Carolinas Golf Association.
Crowe, a high school sophomore, shook off a sluggish start of bogeying two of the first four holes by birding the par four fifth hole and then put a string of pars together to finish the front side at one over par 36. Two bogeys and two birdies along with five pars on the back side secured his one shot victory.
R.J. Keur of Summerville, finished second at 142 after rounds of 72-70.  The 2012 Carolinas Junior Player of the Year, Keenan Huskey of Greenville, finished three shots back at 144.
Will Hicks, a sophomore at Camden High School and the number one player for the Bulldogs’ golf team, was eight strokes back in a tie for seventh place as he fired a 74-75--149 on his home course.
Tyler Gray of Lugoff tied for 43rd with an 85-77--162 while Lugoff-Elgin junior Chandler Walters tied for 48th with an 80-84 -- 164. His sophomore teammate, Brandon Hill, tied for 73rd with a 92-88--180. Camden CC member Thomas Burke of Columbia shot a 103-90--193
Hicks was fourth in the 15-16-year old division while Gray was sixth in the 13-14-year-old group.
The Jimmy Creed Junior Invitational is named for the late Jimmy Creed of Camden, who passed away in October of 2012 as one of the most popular and well thought of members at Camden Country Club.
Proceeds from the tournament will go to a scholarship foundation to help local children.
