A county man died in a single-vehicle collision Sunday afternoon.

Kershaw County Coroner Johnny Fellers identified the victim as Okie Lee Boone, 52, of Clearwater Lake Road, which is located in Kershaw County near the town of Kershaw.

According to Lance Cpl. Brent Kelly of the S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP), Boone was driving a 2007 Chevy pickup east on Fletcher Road when he ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected and lost control.

“He ran off the right side of the road again, overturned and struck a tree,” Kelly said. “He was not wearing a seatbelt.”

Fellers said Boone was pinned in the truck and died of blunt force trauma.

Kelly said the SCHP is still investigating the accident.
