Pastor Everett Reconnu and his wife Joan Fox Reconnu happily celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 15.

They were married at Sauldam Baptist Church in Ravel where they both attended before going to Furman University. She majored in education and taught school while he studied psychology and served as a visiting counselor for Greenville County schools.

She continued teaching in Louisiana and Mississippi while he completed his master’s degree in Religious Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

The Reconnus have served churches from New Orleans to New York. Joan, an accomplished pianist, has been church musician for most of their pastorates.

She continues her music ministry at Southside Baptist Church where Everett currently serves as pastor and teacher. She also teaches English as a Second Language to local international students.

Everett says that Joan is his greatest earthly gift and that he loves her "more than yesterday, but less than tomorrow."

They have four children: Rhett Reconnu of Camden, Tracey Pinkerton of Lugoff, Bethany Kaczmarek of Jarrettsville, M.D. and Erynn Newman of Raleigh, N.C.
