There is no wiggle room left for the Kershaw County American Legion baseball team.
After having opened its first round state playoff series against Murrells Inlet with a 2-0 shutout victory on Monday, Post 17 was put on the brink of having its season come to a close as the host Tides doubled up KC, 10-5, Wednesday night to take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five set.
Game four was to have been played on Thursday in Camden with a game five, if necessary, scheduled for tonight at 7 p.m. at Socastee High School.
Brock Robinson was expected to get the starting nod on the mound for the locals on Thursday.
On Wednesday night along the Grand Strand, the host Tides broke things open in that inning and scored four runs to build up a 7-2 advantage which  they carried into the seventh inning.
Grey Hoke worked into the bottom of the sixth for the visitors before giving way to Jake Brazell. Russ Radcliff came on in relief in the seventh and worked until two outs in the bottom of the eighth with Tyler Bowers recording the final out for the visitors.
Bowers had two hits on the night. He smacked an RBI single in the third before adding a  solo home run in the ninth.
Goose Creek awaits: In the other side of the Lower State bracket, League I champion Goose Creek completed a sweep of Hartsville in three games with a 10-6 win on Wednesday.
Goose Creek will face the winner of the P-17 vs. Murrells Inlet series in round two.
