Since 1992, Habitat for Humanity of Kershaw County has been striving "to help deserving Kershaw County families by building decent, affordable houses for families in need." Since being chartered, Habitat for Humanity of Kershaw County has built more than 32 homes for families with the help of local churches, businesses and other agencies within the community.

One of these community partners is the Bethel Worship Center in Camden.

"Bethel has always been a huge supporter of Habitat for Humanity," Habitat for Humanity of Kershaw County Executive Director Charlotte Rankin said.

Recently, she said, Bethel Worship Center had a workday at a house Habitat for Humanity is currently building. In an effort to honor their pastor, Casey Mills, they made pledges to the Habitat’s Carpenter’s Club per Pastor Mills’s request. Fifty-one church members pledged $25 per house that Habitat for Humanity builds. Bethel Worship Center refers to their volunteers with Habit for Humanity as the Bethel Worship Center Carpenter Club.

"It’s a great group of people who enjoy giving back to their community," Rankin said.
