The Lugoff Fire Department will team with the Camden Fire Department and the Kershaw County Fire Service Sept. 25 to sponsor the 15th annual Fire Fest, the largest gathering of emergency service personnel and vehicles in Kershaw County.

Fire Fest will begin at 9 a.m. with a parade of current and antique emergency vehicles moving on Broad Street from Laurens Street to Rhame City Arena, located at the corner of Broad and Bull streets. The arena will be the site for Fire Fest activities.

Skydivers will land into the opening ceremony at 9:45 a.m.  A child safety seat installation checkpoint will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon in front of the arena, providing instructions on safe and correct child seat installation.

The day will be packed with  activities including games for youngsters, inflatable jump houses, door prizes, emergency vehicle displays, the Life Net helicopter, vendors, exhibitors and performers. Firefighting competitions for Explorers and firefighters will also take place after the performances.

Fire Fest 2010 will be the ideal place to see fire trucks and emergency vehicles first hand as well as to meet the professionals who provide critical fire and rescue services to Kershaw County and surrounding areas, said Fire Fest organizers.

Admission is free all day.
