Bethesda Presbyterian Church recently awarded the Louise Mickle Harvey Scholarship fund to Savannah Long. Long is currently a second year medical student and University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She intends to pursue primary care residency and to return to Camden after her training concludes. The scholarship, which was established by the late Tom Mickle in 1995 in memory of his wife who had the desire to be a doctor, is awarded to a deserving female medical student from this area. During the past 17 years, an excess of $117,000 in scholarships have been awarded to 12 different students.

The scholarship committee is currently searching for deserving, dedicated women who are currently or will shortly enroll in medical school as candidates. For more information, please contact the church office at 432-4593.
