A funeral service for Margaret Elizabeth Horton Outen, 85 of Kershaw will be held at 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at Baker Conference Center. Burial will follow in the Kershaw City Cemetery.

Mrs. Outen, widow of Edward Daniel Outen, Jr. died Saturday, August 31, 2013, at KershawHealth, Camden. Born in Kershaw, she was the daughter of the late Hampton Ravenel and Gladys Truesdale Horton. She retired from North Central High School as Cafeteria Manager and had served as Cafeteria Manager for Mt. Pisgah Schools. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church where she was a member of the WMU. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving are her daughter, Phoebe O. Coates (William); two sons, Lon D. Outen (Donna) and Michael Hampton "Nut" Outen and his special friend, Cynthia Lawhorn all of Kershaw; three grandchildren, Tracy Coates (Marla), Shana Cawley, Travis Coates (Elizabeth) all of Kershaw; five great grandchildren, Logan Coates, Carson Coates, Emma Grace Cawley, Elliott Coates and Brooke Coates; two brothers, Bruce T. Horton and Welch Horton both of Kershaw and her sister, Frances Holley of Camden. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Edward Coates and a brother, Cuthbert "Cup" Horton.

The family will receive friends, Monday, September 2, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home and other times at her home, 4637-A Bethune Rd., Kershaw.

Memorial contributions may be made to Shamrock Baptist Church, 3573 Porter Rd., Bethune, SC 29009 or Providence Baptist Church,3334 Providence Rd., Kershaw, SC 29067.

The family would like to thank Joyce McDonald for the love and care shown to Mrs. Outen.
