Johnson receives Doctor of Ministry from CIU

Chaplain Jerry Johnson, son of Gerald and Carolyn Johnson of Cassatt, received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Columbia International University on August 27. Johnson’s wife, Carrie, and their four sons live in Lowville, N.Y.

Johnson is presently serving his third deployment in Afghanistan. He is the brigade chaplain for the 10th Combat Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, N.Y.

Army Reserve Pvt. Santos E. Mojica has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia.

During the nine weeks of training, Mojica studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Mojica is the brother of Jessica Stokes of Cassatt.

Army Pfc. Aaron L. Green has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia.

Green is the son of Rhonda Austin and brother of William Gordon, both of Elgin.

He is also a 2012 graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School.

Air Force Airman Zackery A. Chenevey graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Chenevey completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Chenevey is the son of Kathy Chenevey of Lugoff, and a 2011 graduate of Lugoff Elgin High School.

Air Force Airman Dylan Dupree graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

Dupree completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Dupree is the brother of Kristina Manriquez of Elgin.
