The South Carolina’s Writer’s Workshop (SCWW) has announced the list of contributors for the 2013 Petigru Review, the annual SCWW member anthology. Among the authors featured in Volume 7 of this anthology is local resident Bobbi Adams of Bishopville. Adams’ essay "Scrambled Eggs" is included in the nonfiction section of Petigru Review.

The 2013 Petigru Review will be unveiled at the SCWW Symposium in Columbia, October 26. Submissions were judged and selections were made by Susan Williams, Mary Anne Benedetto and Celia Rivenbark for nonfiction. For more information about the SCWW visit www.myscww.org/conference.

Adams will be at Books on Broad in Camden, Saturday, reading to children from 10:30-11:30 a.m., and also signing her first book, Gatherings from the Garden, from 1-2:30 p.m. Gatherings from the Garden was published in August of this year.

Adams is an artist, master gardener and master naturalist. Her column, "The Peripatetic Gardener," runs weekly in the Lee County Observer. She also writes for master gardener newsletters.

Adams received her Masters from New York University in 1998 and was trained by Clemson University as a master gardener and a master naturalist. She has had exhibitions shown in numerous places around the state and has also had her work shown in New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Italy.

In an artist’s statement, Adams writes, "The Greek word for butterfly is psyche or soul. In many parts of the world the butterfly is the symbol of the real self and long life. The initial stages of a butterfly’s metamorphosis are small. As the butterfly grows older, its true beauty shows and butterflies become the spiritual equivalent of spiritual evolution and rebirth. It reminds us that we can make changes and express our freedom and joy in old age."
