Ethel McCreary Freeman, 93, of Lugoff, passed away September 13, 2013 after a long and courageous battle with numerous health problems.

She was born in Columbia, SC, December 13th, 1920 of Mr. Clifton W. McCreary and Laura Bruce McCreary. She married Harry S. Freeman, a retired purchasing agent with DuPont and they made Lugoff, SC their home. She was predeceased by Mr. Freeman in 2002. Ethel was employed for 14 years at the DuPont Plant at Savannah River and later retired in 1970 from the University of South Carolina as Chief Operator over all telephone offices, where she was employed for 17 years. She was a lady with many talents, above all being a true artist. She created and painted beautiful dolls, nativity sets, Faberge design eggs, ceramics and intricate Christmas ornaments that decorated her tree "year round." She loved people and animals, not always in that order! She rescued countless animals throughout her years and gave them a loving home. . She felt that they gave her their unconditional love in return, to which she attributed her long life. Of greater significance was her love for the Lord Jesus Christ.

She is survived by Bingo, Molly and Callie, her beloved pets. She is also survived by her loving neighbor and friend, Carol Ernhart, who nurtured and cared for her through the years. She always said Carol was the daughter she never had.

Ethel donated her body to the School of Medicine at the University of South Carolina in Columbia, S.C.
