The quarterly meeting of the Kershaw County Forest Landowners Association will be held on Monday. The meeting takes place in the Clemson Extension Homemakers Building located at the corner of West DeKalb and Church Streets in Camden and begins at 7 p.m.

The guest speaker for the meeting will be Dr. George Kessler, Clemson Emeritus Professor of Forestry. Landowners all over South Carolina are caring for more forest land than at any time in recent history.

While there has been expansion with roads, subdivisions, towns and cities, there has also been an expansion of forests. In 1971 there were 11.8 million acres of forest land in South Carolina. Today there are 13.1 million acres of forest land in the state. Landowners with forest areas have many opportunities to manage their land.

Dr. Kessler will share with landowners opportunities they have through the newly introduced SC Certified Tree Farm Program to have the best management of their property.
