Norma Jean Reed, 71, of Elgin, died peacefully Monday, October 14, 2013. Born in Barnwell, SC on April 22, 1942, she was a daughter of the late William H. and Idoma Granger Knopf. A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Norma Jean was an active member of Blaney Baptist Church in Elgin. She loved teaching children and was greatly missed during her illness.

Survivors include her husband of more than 30 years, David Reed; daughters, Deborah (Gene) Mungo of Elgin, Cheryl (Kevin) Cottingham of Dillon, SC; a son, B. Adam (Colette) Justice of Columbia; step-son, Michael (Bonnie) Reed of Gaston; step-daughter, Susan (Russell) Hebert of Irmo; brother, Bill (Mary) Knopf of Great Falls, SC; sisters, Patsy Brown of Barnwell, SC, and Annie Jones of Great Falls. In addition to her parents, Norma was preceded in death by her step-father, Levi Creech; brothers, Sam, Myer, Arthur, and Abraham Knopf; sisters, Ruby Paul, Frankie McKeown, Idoma Babb, Lucille Robbins, and Isaiah Knopf.

The funeral service for Mrs. Reed will be held at 3 o’clock, Sunday, October 20th at Blaney Baptist Church, 1400 Blaney Road, Elgin, with The Rev. Philip Blankenship and The Rev. Marshall Still officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Saturday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
