United Way of Kershaw County to hold third annual Chili Cook-off

The United Way of Kershaw County will host its third annual Chili Cook-off on November 9 at downtown Camden’s Town Green. Music will be provided by Fair Jam from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and Reflections from 12 to 3 p.m. Chili will be served from 12 to 2 p.m. Premier sponsors of the event are SAFE Federal Credit Union and Lugoff Automotive Group.

This family-friendly event includes hotdogs and drinks for purchase along with face painting for children. An added event this year will be a Corn Hole Tournament. The tournament will begin at 11 a.m. Teams can register in advance at the United Way office at 110 East DeKalb St., or by calling the office at 432-0951 or they may register the day of the event. Registration is $10 per team. The grand prize will be a trophy and a corn hole game.

The United Way is now registering teams to cook chili. For any community members who want to register, call or come by the United Way office to pick up a registration form. The registration fee is $30. All teams must be registered by November 1.

Admission to the Chili Cook-off is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. This includes chili tasting and musical entertainment.

Contact the United Way office at 432-0951 for more information. The United Way encourages community members to come out and help decide who makes the best chili in Kershaw County. Be sure to bring a blanket or lawn chair for listening to live music.
