A special thank-you

My family and I have unfortunately been through the loss of my youngest brother recently. With this being totally unexpected and the first time making arrangements for an immediate family member, we contacted Robbie Powers of Powers Funeral Home.

The difficulty in our planning was that our brother was working in California at Hollywood Park Race Track. Robbie kept us up to date with the daily hurdles that included working with the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office which had to inform us of the authorization of the next of kin and releasing him to us, the autopsy scheduling, followed by the California funeral home that he had to contact, and the most important task of bringing him back home to Camden. Not knowing that only certain planes could be used in this type of transportation, the California funeral home was very sympathetic and went the extra mile to work with the airlines’ various flight schedules. When the autopsy had to be delayed a day, Robbie was in constant contact with those in California for updates and informing our family of every effort. In the meantime, we were also looking at all the possibilities in planning details of the visitation and service that were to take place in just a few days.

Our goal was to have him home by Saturday since we have family in Alabama, as well as North Carolina and Virginia that we knew would want to come, if possible with their work schedules. When the autopsy was delayed a day, that threw doubt into our plans, along with the bad weather factor throughout the country. However, Robbie was right on top of things, all the while having to serve other families who were mourning their own losses at the same time.

From the time Bobby made it into Charlotte and into the hands of Robbie and his fine staff, to the burial at Quaker Cemetery, we were so very grateful for his compassionate service. Our family members and friends from near and far were also very impressed with every aspect. Even after the funeral, Robbie has been in contact with my parents so that they can get closure on all that has happened.

I know that this may be a little lengthy or detailed, but our family members wanted to express our sincere appreciation to someone who, we believe, went far beyond and above what could have ever been expected at a time like this. Thank you, Robbie and your staff at Powers Funeral home, from the bottom of our hearts for your comforting expertise in the most difficult time of our lives.

On behalf of the entire Clements Family.
