Camden police officers and firefighters, and EMS respond to an accident at Broad and DeKalb streets just before noon Monday. According to the Camden Police Department (CPD), an Elgin man driving a 2006 Toyota truck (right) ran a red light while traveling east on DeKalb Street, causing him to hit a 2003 Dodge (left) traveling South on Broad Street. The truck then struck First Palmetto Bank’s Karesh building on the southwest corner. CPD Chief Joe Floyd said the driver of the Dodge was taken to the hospital with no life-threatening injuries. Floyd said it was a “standard” accident, aside from the fact it happened on a busy Camden intersection and caused a lot of noise. The building suffered approximately $1,000 worth of damage, Floyd said.
