Funeral services celebrating the life of John Henry (Johnny) Stein, 69, of Jefferson, will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, November 4, 2013 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Burial will follow in Quaker Cemetery. Rev. Hope Avins will officiate. The family will receive friends at 2:00 PM until the time of the service at Kornegay Funeral Home, Camden Chapel. Memorials may be made in Mr. Stein’s memory to First Kershaw United Methodist Church, 305 W. Church St., Kershaw, SC 29067.

Mr. Stein died Friday, November 1, 2013 after a short illness. Born in Camden, he was the son of the late Archie James, Sr. and Annie Lee Eubanks Stein. He held a Life Rank with Boy Scout Troop 303. He was a self employed contractor for 37 years and employed with Rories Well Drilling and Sandhill Insulation. Mr. Stein was a certified firefighter, serving as Assistant Chief and Chief with Buffalo-Mt. Pisgah Fire Department from 1978-1995. He also served as a training officer for the Sandhill Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Stein was a member of Kershaw First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Patty Ballard Stein; 2 daughters: Henri Stein McCartney of Centreville, VA and Amy Stein James of Chesterfield, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
