Wise should never retire

It is good to see letters of appreciation in our local newspaper. This is one that, in my opinion, should have already been written.

I, along with many other caring citizens of Kershaw County, want to genuinely thank Mr. Gene Wise. Mr. Wise is our Kershaw County Council chairman and he needs to know that a great many citizens of Kershaw County do appreciate what he does for us. We thank you.

If you, as concerned citizens of Kershaw County, have ever attended a Kershaw County Council meeting, it would be very obvious to witness the very excellent job that Mr. Wise does. He heads up and holds the meetings to high moral and ethical standards. He is a businessman, and he cares about you and Kershaw County. As you sit there at those meetings, one can almost tell what he is thinking. Mr. Wise sits on our county council alongside other council members, some of whom may wish they could be as good as he. Some are!

My point here is that I do not want Mr. Wise to ever resign. He knows a bit about most matters, especially when centered with the other Kershaw County Council members. This is very important. Now this, along with the recent passing of Gene’s wife, JoAnn, can certainly bring oneself down: I just hope the rumor I have heard of Mr. Wise not seeking reelection is simply not true.

You see, once you find or have something that is good, that works, it is very hard to justify not having it. It creates an empty void. So, Mr. Gene Wise, for Kershaw County’s sake, remain as our Kershaw County Council chairman! It is true that you can be replaced, but it is also true that finding a genuine replacement for you would be no easy task. Many people, many citizens appreciate you. We are behind you and appreciate your dedication. We salute you! Please continue, sir! Thank you, Mr. Gene Wise, our Kershaw County Council chairman.
