Kershaw County Council will discuss awarding of sewer bids regarding two pump stations in Elgin at its meeting Tuesday evening. According to County Administrator Vic Carpenter, a portion of the budget was set aside for the rehabilitation of the two stations, called Elgin 1 and 2.

Carpenter explained that council will hear a resolution to accept a grant that will cover most of the expense of building that station.

“DHEC gave us a grant that will cover most of (the cost),” he said, “and we will finish paying out the remaining cost for it.”

Also, at Tuesday’s meeting, council will review:

• a proclamation recognizing World AIDS day;

• a proclamation recognizing Hunger and Homelessness Week;

• an appointment to COATS Transportation Committee;

• appointments to the Recreation Advisory Commission;

• appointments to the Airport Commission;

• an appointment to the Zoning Board of Appeals;

• recommendations for Grievance committee;

• a resolution approving an agreement with Motorola;

• council’s calendar; and

• the county’s employee pay scale.

The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers at the Kershaw County Government Center, 515 Walnut St., in Camden, and is open to the public.
