For the second time in as many years, the North Central High School Competitive Cheerleading Team is headed to the AA state championship competition. The Lady Knights qualified 10th at last Thursday’s AA state qualifier held at River Bluff High School. The South Carolina High School League championships will be held at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia on Saturday, Nov. 23 with the AA teams taking to the floor beginning at 11 a.m. Tickets are $10 each with children five years old and under being admitted free of charge. A year ago, NCHS finished 12th in the AA state championship. In 2013, head coach Chelsea Sutusky’s squad have won four competitions --- the Viking Challenge at Spring Valley, the Falcon Invitational at A.C. Flora, Eau Claire’s Shamrock Classic and the Rumble in the Jungle at Riverbanks Zoo --- while having a second and a third in their other two event stops. Pictured on the bottom row in the team picture following the state qualifier at River Bluff are, from left, Courtney Payne and Morgan Kelly. Pictured on the second row are Casey Gibson, Madison German, Alicia Olds and Jasmine Bracey. The third row is made up of Amber Thompson, Breanna Boone, Hannah Sowell, Crystal Douglas, Lauren Humphrey, Tyler Humphries, Halen Nicholson and Coach Chelsea Sutusky.
