The Hospital Auxiliary of KershawHealth held its 24th annual golf tournament at the Camden Country Club on Oct. 24.
The recently renovated golf course and the crisp fall weather provided a perfect day for both sport and fellowship.
The winning team, Cassidy Insurance, had a 13-under par gross score. The first place team was a family affair, including Kyle Cassidy, his parents, Karen and Chuck Cassidy, and family friend, Rob Butler. Proceeds from the Cassidy Insurance team’s victory were donated to the Hospital Auxiliary.
There were five “closest to pin” wins on the par threes. Three of the winners were: Chris Culler (second hole), Frank Montgomery (sixth hole) and Wayne Branham at the 16th hole.
Bobbi Rush took home the ladies’ long drive honors, while Chris Culler won the men’s long drive award.
It was a good day for golf and, as most would agree, the course played tough to make up for it with the Camden Country Club’s renovations nearly erasing the “home course” advantage for many local golfers.
The Hospital Auxiliary is grateful to the sponsors and donors who helped make this year’s tournament a success.
Proceeds from the Auxiliary golf tournament are used to assist KershawHealth departments with projects and needs that are not covered in the annual operating budget. Departments supported by the Auxiliary include Oncology, Outpatient Surgery, Pediatrics, ICU, Radiology, Karesh Long-Term Care and Emergency Ser-vices. Recently, the Auxiliary contributed substantial funds to the Hospital Foundation for the purchase of a lithotripter and a fetal monitor.
In addition to assisting KershawHealth departments with unbudgeted needs, the Auxiliary annually awards need-based scholarships to students entering the medical field.
The Hospital Auxiliary Executive Board would like to thank Vince Bacchetta for his tireless efforts that helped to make this tournament an unqualified success. Additionally, a special “thank you” to Peggy Gettys who coordinated the tournament, along with Bobbi Rush, Pat Godwin, Linda Branham, Marguerite Glasgow, Mary Sargeant, Merryrose Radford, Betty Holland, and Mary Clark.
