FAC and city of Camden announce plans for second annual ‘Horsing around on the Town Green’ event

The Root Doctors, above, will perform at the second annual “Horsing around on the Town Green” event sponsored by the Fine Arts Center and the City of Camden. The event is free and will begin at 6 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and/or chairs for seating.

The Fine Arts Center (FAC) of Kershaw County and the City of Camden are pleased to present an evening of entertainment to kick off the Colonial Cup weekend on Friday. Now in its second year, this free and exciting event will begin at 6 p.m. with food and drink vendors along with music on the Town Green. The Root Doctors, a popular cover and dance band, will take the stage at 7 p.m.

Participating vendors include: Old Armory Steak and Seafood Restaurant, Venue on Broad, New Horizons, the Palmetto Tea Room and more. The Town Green is located at 1015 Market St., in Camden. Rain location will be the Wood Auditorium at the FAC. Please note that coolers will not be allowed.

The Root Doctors are known for their hip sound combining bass, rhythm guitar and brass that any age can enjoy. Formed in 1987, the Root Doctors have a wide following in the Southeast. They have opened shows for top national acts including Little Richard, Ray Charles, KC and the Sunshine Band, the B-52’s and more.

The Root Doctors’ music is a versatile blend of pop, rock, jazz, gospel, rap and funk, from 70s style to current hip hop tunes. Their repertoire includes popular songs from such artists as Earth Wind and Fire, Cee Lo Green, Prince, the Commodores, WAR, James Brown, Eric Clapton and many more.
