A funeral service to celebrate the life of Helen Kathleen Howard Hinton, 82, from Elgin, SC, will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Elgin Ward, Camden, SC. Bishop Arthur Turbyfill will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Elgin, SC. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM, Monday, November 25, 2013 at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, Lugoff, SC. Memorials may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, % Gail Kirkland, 647 Lachicotte Road, Lugoff, SC 29078.

Helen Kathleen Howard Hinton, widow of Jesse L. Hinton, died Friday, November 22, 2013. She was born in Pickens County, SC, the daughter of the late Garvin Edgar Howard and Carrie Leona Cushman Howard.

Helen was a kind and loving mother. She never met a stranger and no one ever went hungry that entered her home. Helen was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Elgin Ward.

Helen is survived by her children, Jesse L. Hinton, Jr. (Betty Ann) of Statesboro, GA, Sheila Ann Brewer (George) of Birmingham, AL, Kathleen J. Kemick (William M.) of Irmo, SC, Cynthia F. Rigby (Lynn) of Rexburg. ID, and Cindy K. Cogdill (Richard) of Elgin, SC; 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren; and her 4 sisters.

Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her twin brothers, Lester and Chester Howard and brother, Elmo Howard.

Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
