A woman allegedly wrote a $9,000 check to herself from her deceased ex-husband’s bank account.

According to a Camden Police Department (CPD) report, the man’s most recent wife -- to whom he was married at the time of his death -- said she was in New York when the check was written. She said she didn’t realize the money had been taken from the account until she got home.

The two women apparently share the same first name, but the second wife said she wasn’t sure if her husband’s ex-wife and changed her last name after divorcing the man.

The CPD reported the following other incident during the period of Nov. 18-27:

Someone stole $300 worth of electronics from a home on Fair Street.

Camden officers also assisted other agencies, served bench warrants and dealt with cases involving DUIs, shoplifting less than $2,000, communicating threats and larceny.
