The South Carolina Department of Education released the report card ratings for career centers last week, and ATEC earned an Excellent Absolute rating for the third straight year.

“ATEC has high quality programs to help ensure that our students are career and college ready,” said Kershaw County School District Superintendent Frank Morgan.  “These teachers help give our students actual hands on experience in a variety of fields.  I commend the staff, students and community supporters who make ATEC such a special place.”

Ratings formulas based on student achievement levels are set by the Education Oversight Committee, created by the General Assembly to guide implementation of South Carolina’s Education Accountability Act of 1998.  Districts and schools receive Absolute ratings—Excellent, Good, Average, Below Average or At-Risk—that compare individual student test scores compared to a target level of performance.

ATEC joins four other KCSD schools—Lugoff Elementary, Lugoff-Elgin High, North Central High and Wateree Elementary—and the district in earning Excellent Absolute ratings this school year.
