High school girl’s data on Battle of Camden to be used for class study

A Camden High school girl’s reply to a Greensboro, N.C., student’s request for historical data about the Battle of Camden will be used for the subject of study in an adult history class in the Camden High School. The student who wrote the letter on the battle is Miss Ann McKain of 407 Greene St., daughter of Mr. and Mr. Joe E. McKain.

Tate, of 402 North Cedar St., Greensboro, N.C., Miss McKain, with the assistance of several other members of the Camden High school history class, compiled an outline of the Battle of Camden, and incidents leading up to the battle, which was forwarded to the young North Carolina history student.

C.T. Baldwin, principal of Camden High school, in a letter last week to A. Stanley Llewellyn, manager of the Camden-Kershaw County Chamber of Commerce, said:

How to dump garbage at the city dump

The city sanitation department has requested that persons who dump trash or garbage at the city dump please use the places specified by signs there.

There are places marked, “garbage,” “burnable material,” “non-burnable material,” and “dead animals.”

Although a city employee is there to help dumpers from 7:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., much trash and garbage is taken there for disposal when he is not on duty.

For that reason, dumpers have been asked please to watch the signs and to make sure that they are dumping in the correct places.
