Reid Buckley will read from his latest prose book Infinity, Dec. 10 from 5:30 until 7 p.m. at Books on Broad, located at 944 Broad St., in Camden. The event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and autographing. Seating is limited.

According to the author’s press release, "Infinity, a heterogeneous collection of essays, is the last prose work that Reid Buckley intends to publish. His friends will rejoice that he stops before his enemies cry his chorus that it’s high time. The major accomplishment of the book is its announcement of his rejection of the Republican Party and the beltway conservative establishment."

Buckley has been a noted public speaker since his debating championships at Yale. During the 1960s and 70s, he toured the United States, taking on columnist Max Lerner in clashes that have been compared to the Lincoln-Douglas debates.

He served as contributing editor to the National Review and has written for many other publications. Among his published works are the novels The Eye of the Hurricane and Servants and Their Masters and several books on speaking and writing, including Speaking in Public; Sex, Power & Pericles: Principles of Advanced Public Speaking; Strictly Speaking: Reid Buckley’s Indispensible Handbook on Public Speaking; and Wresting Order out of Chaos.

In addition to speaking and writing, Buckley’s experiences include service in the U.S. Air Force, bird hunting, farming, and bullfighting. He has traveled extensively and has lived in France, Spain, England, Mexico, Connecticut, and South Carolina. He has 10 children and 21 grandchildren. He and his wife, Rosario, currently divide their time between Camden, SC, and Cantabria, Spain.
