Madge Strickland to sign book

The much anticipated Blaney-Elgin history book, A Sand Hills Revelation by Elgin author Madge Black Strickland, will debut with a book signing at Elgin Town Hall in downtown Elgin.

The event will be held Dec. 21 from 2 to 5 p.m. At that time, books will be made available for purchase. Proceeds from the book sales will go to the Blaney-Elgin Museum and Historical Society and will be used to build a museum in the community.

The history, legacy and legend of Blaney and Elgin has been published in a coffee table size, hardback book complete with many pictures, maps and illustrations, and includes the church histories of the 12 oldest churches in the area.

Portrait profiles of many of the area’s most prominent citizens is also featured in the book. The timeline covers from 1755 to the present and relates many interesting stories from every decade.

Strickland grew up in Elgin and is married to Ray Strickland and they have five sons, Terry, Larry, Tony, David and Daniel. Strickland enjoys retirement in Elgin.
