For the second time in a week, Brookland-Cayce got the better of Lugoff-Elgin. And for the second time, by single digits.
Make that single digit.
The Demons came out on the short end of a 59-58 decision against the visiting Bearcats on Tuesday night inside the Demons Den. A week earlier, B-C edged L-E, 58-52.
L-E (0-4) junior guard Daniel Quattlebaum led the hosts with 18 points while adding three assists and a trio of steals. Senior guard Kevin Fields was next for Garrett Knight’s squad with a 16-point, six-steal performance.
The Demons will head to Camden tonight as they look for a split of the season series with the host Bulldogs. The girls’ game is the opener at 6 p.m.
B-C slips past Lady Demons: Visiting Brookland-Cayce handed the Lugoff-Elgin girls their fourth loss of the season on Tuesday, 34-27.
The visiting Lady Bearcats led, 10-8, after the first quarter and carried a 17-15 advantage into the locker room at halftime. L-E trailed, 25-22, after three stanzas only to be held to five points in the fourth quarter.
Celeste Etheridge led Von Duncan’s troops with six points while Abby Gary was next with a five-point night.
