Someone shot out the window to a GMC Yukon as its owner was traveling on Chestnut Ferry Road Ext.

According to a Camden Police Department (CPD) report, a Lugoff woman said she was driving on Chestnut Ferry Road Ext. near McLeod Court when her driver’s rear side window shattered from what she believed was a BB gun.

While an officer spoke with the woman, he received word that a Ridgeway man had reported the same thing had happened to his Ford Explorer as he drove through the same area. He said he did not know what had struck his car until he stopped at Camden High School for a church gathering. Once there, however, the Ridgeway man noticed a small indentation on the rear glass consistent with a BB and learned about the woman’s vehicle being struck as well.

Neither victim saw who shot at their vehicles. Total damage to both vehicles is estimated at $600.

The CPD reported the following other incidents during the period of Dec. 17-23:

Someone stole two drainage grates -- weighing about 45 pounds each -- from a York Street car wash. The grates are valued at a total of $1,080.

Camden officers also assisted other agencies and dealt with three cases of shoplifting; and one case each of civil disturbance, fraud, larceny, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple assault, stolen property offenses, theft from a motor vehicle, trespassing and vandalism.
