Presents for a family adopted by the Lugoff Fire Department sit in front of Engine 10 before being delivered -- with Santa -- to the family at their Lugoff home.

Lugoff Fire Department (LFD) personnel were able to grab Santa for a few moments to ride with them one more time this year on a fire truck as crews delivered clothes, presents and lots of food to a Lugoff family adopted by the department for Christmas.

LFD firefighters loaded all the food, clothes, and gifts into Engine 10 with Santa riding in style on top of the engine with sparkling Christmas lights announcing his arrival. On Christmas Eve just after dark, Santa arrived with a blow of the siren and toot of the horn to the kids waiting on his arrival at the Lugoff home. Firefighters delivered the gifts and food to the kids given to them by Santa celebrating this season of “giving” with the family.

“I am so proud of our staff at Lugoff Fire for choosing to do this for these kids this year,” LFD Chief Dennis Ray said. “Our department has always reached out to help members of the Lugoff Community in so many ways year-round; but adopting this family to make sure these kids get plenty for Christmas is very special. The excitement in the eyes of the kids when the gifts were delivered from Santa on our Fire Engine was such a blessing for our firefighters to witness on Christmas Eve before we spent time with our own families. We are reminded of how blessed we are today to have what we have and how precious time spent with our family really is.”
