The 2014 Miss Camden and Miss Camden Teen Pageant will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. at the Camden High School Performing Arts Auditorium. Tickets can be purchased from contestants for $10 or at the door the night of the event, if still available, for $15. There are approximately 100 tickets still available.

The Miss Camden Scholarship Program is a non-profit organization that raises money for many local charities. Local Executive Director Kim Forrest said that "each contestant is required to raise $100 for Children’s Miracle Network."

Forrest also said the program benefits young women because it teaches "poise, confidence, encourages mentoring, community service, organization and time management." The contestants also learn how to accept constructive criticism in an effort to grow and develop, she explained.

The Miss Camden and Miss Camden Teen winners act as public relations people for the county, speaking at many benefits and charity events throughout the state.

Contestants will compete in swimsuit, talent, evening gown, onstage question and judges interview. The competition is open to women who live, work, attend school or have immediate family in Camden and/or Kershaw County.
