The Kershaw County Reading Association recently held its annual Reading Teacher of the Year banquet at Lugoff-Elgin Middle School.

Each school in the district had the opportunity to nominate a Reading Teacher of the Year who created portfolios and displays to be judged for the district competition. The featured guests were students from the county's three high schools.  In their moving speeches, they described teachers who have inspired their love of reading.

At the banquet, the following teachers were named Kershaw County Reading Association's Reading Teachers of the Year: Mary Crayne, Camden Elementary School; Janice Kline, Leslie M. Stover Middle School; Wendy Campbell, Lugoff-Elgin High School. Gerald Gary was honored as the association's Administrator of the Year.
