RNE sweeps pair from Demons

Richland Northeast handed the visiting Lugoff-Elgin boys a 56-35 loss in a Region 4-4A basketball game played on Tuesday night in Columbia.
Junior guard Daniel Quattlebaum led the Demons with 16 points while senior guard Kevin Fields was next with six for Garrett Knight’s troops.
L-E girls fall to RNE: The Lugoff-Elgin girls fell to 0-2 in Region 4-4A action with a 65-22 loss to Richland Northeast on Friday night in Columbia.
RNE had a 19-10 lead after the first quarter and used a 38-9 run in the second and third stanzas to put this one away with a 57-19 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
Jasmine Sexton led the Lady Demons with seven points followed by Bryanne Long with six.
Tonight’s games:  Camden returns from a week-long break and will head to Chapin for a Region 4-AAA doubleheader tonight while Lugoff-Elgin entertains Blythewood this evening. North Central heads to Columbia to meet Eau Claire in Region 3-AA action.
All three doubleheaders begin at 6 p.m.
