It isn’t everyday that a small business in a small Southern city earns national recognition. For the past eight years, the award-winning Bloomsbury Inn has consistently been judged (and inspected) to be one of the best inns/bed and breakfasts in the Nation.

The world’s largest travel site recognized Bloomsbury in their 12th Annual Global Awards. "We’re excited to recognize the world’s best properties, based on the opinions of those who know them best -- the millions of travelers around the globe who come to TripAdvisor to share their experiences," said Barbara Messing, Chief Marketing Officer for TripAdvisor.

Ingrid Abreu of the Professional Association of Innkeepers International (PAII) offered a little perspective, "There is not exact industry data stating the number of inns/bed and breakfasts in the nation." But, from industry standards and data, PAII estimates 17,000 on their website. "We are proud to see Bloomsbury in the top 25," said Abreu.

Bruce and Katherine Brown, two retired Colonels from the United States Air Force, purchased Bloomsbury in the fall of 2004 and moved to Camden in the summer 2005. Consistent with their military accomplishments, from a lone Antebellum home in a small town, they restored the house and opened their home as a bed and breakfast with full intentions of being one of the best.

"It is an honor to have Bloomsbury selected as a 2014 Travelers’ Choice Award property," said Bruce Brown.

"It was a well kept secret, we were not aware of the award until the public announcement was made. To say the least, it has been a great week for us. Being named in the top 25 and being featured in Charleston Design and Style with several other noted Camden treasures is absolutely amazing," added Katherine Brown.
