A 21-year-old Columbia woman with ties to Kershaw County died in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on I-26 in Calhoun County. The S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP) and the Calhoun County Coroner’s Office confirmed Kristen Amodio Baker, a 2010 graduate of Lugoff-Elgin High School was westbound on I-26 at 12:30 a.m. Saturday. The SCHP said she lost control of her 2003 Hyundai and hit the wall that divides the westbound and eastbound lanes around mile marker 125.5.

The stopped car was hit from behind by a 2003 Cadillac, killing Baker. The SCHP report said the driver of the Cadillac was injured and was taken to Richland Memorial Hospital. The accident is being investigated but the SCHP said no charges are expected to be made.
