Lugoff-Elgin won Saturday’s Region 4-4A duals championship and secured a home berth in Saturday’s 4A Upper State championship tournament opening round(s)
First-year Demons’ head coach Peter Hemingway led his high school alma mater past host Spring Valley for the title.
L-E will host Woodmont, the fourth-place finisher from Region 1 in Saturday’s first round pairing inside the Demons Den. The other half of the bracket will have ninth-ranked Fort Mill, the runner-up in Region 3, wrestling against the yet-to-be-determined third-place finisher from Region 2, a conference which has four teams ranked in the top 20 4A poll.
After a short break, the winners of the two first round matches will wrestle for the right to advance to next Monday’s third round of the state tournament.
